No one is really from here...

It seems everyone I meet here in Colorado is a transplant. California and Texas are among the top states that people here originate from.
I do know, however that everyone and their crippled granny is an outdoor enthusiast. Rock climbers, bike racers, hikers, back packers, and mountaineer'ers. I feel like it's almost trendy to be outdoorsy here. If you have the gear (including clothing) you are probably gonna be in some conversation about some sport sooner than you can say Cockadoodle-do! Today, a coworker asked if my sweat band was some popular outdoor brand that he loved. To his dismay, it wasn't. The conversation stopped, awkwardly in its tracks. ;)

All joking aside, Colorado is beautiful. On the drive in we passed through Evergreen, a small mountain town outside of Denver, which I consider to embody the spirit of Colorado. While most of the staff training is being held in Denver, I am staying about an hour and a half south in cute ole' Colorado Springs. I'm staying about a block from the old downtown. Quaint little shops and cafes, antique stores and mountain art galleries. It's cute round here! I haven't had lots of time to get to know the area but I plan to explore on this fine Memorial Day weekend.

The weather has been warm in the mornings with some afternoon clouds and scattered showers. It makes for a beautiful show with the ominous faraway horizon beaming with lightening bolts and wispy rain action.
It's definitely going to be a hot summer though!

Love and hugs!

Hi Becca - glad you made it safe and sound. Enjoy CO!! The weather is kind of like Big Bear - if you don't like it, just wait a minute. Watch out for those hailstones, though; they really hurt when they bounce off your noggin. Take good care of yourself, and enjoy this latest chapter of your exciting life!!!
Love, Melinda
