UPDATED, MY NEXT PROJECT ASSIGNMENT!!!

This is how it all went down; So our team leader, Dan took the team out for custard tonight, a local favorite here in Saint Bernard. It's basically like ice cream with a few different ingredients (lots of egg). It's yummy!
So we're all enjoying our custard and then after some conversation and chit-chat, he rips out colored construction paper and says "this holds the location and name of your next project," and he proceeds to rip the paper into little mismatched pieces. We were then supposed to puzzle together the pieces to find out our projects name.
Did I mention that finding out your next project is a big deal! Everyone has been anticipating it for the last few days...knowing it was coming. Some teams in the area have already found out...so we were pestering Dan to tell us. The puzzle produced three projects in three different cities; New York-trail blazing, Perry Point-Girl Scout camp, and Washington DC-YMCA. After we each individually made our guesses... it is determined, living in DC and working at a YMCA! I don't know any details beyond that.
I'm excited!!! East Coast in the spring time...I think it will be wonderful! :) :)

****Dot, dot, dot...****

Then three days later after this posting, our leader Dan called a team meeting gathering all of us together to tell us that he had said 'yes' to each of our guesses...meaning that we were going to ALL THREE PLACES!!! We are going to have a split project: working 2 weeks, 2 weeks, and 3 weeks= 7 weeks. We will be working at a girl scout camp near Perryville, MD for 2 weeks and we will be CAMPING in tents! Then we will move on to a YMCA camp outside of D.C. and living in a cabin. Finally we will finish off our project at an camp in New Jersey for inner city NYC kids, and living in a 5 bedroom house. We will mostly be doing environmental things; building trails, park maintenance, etc. and just preping the camps for the summer season.
The team seems to be very excited about our next assignment...and I know I am!!!

Construction with Habitat is going great! We are doing what they call a 'blitz build'...building one house from the foundation to the 'dried in' phase in one week. It's neat because the whole team is together. We stood a wall today and it was very impressive and moving to see all the people work together for one family. POWER in numbers.
I am a little sad to be leaving the wonderful staff that we have been working with. They are all so great and fun! We will be departing NOLA on April 25th and heading onwards to Jackson, Mississippi for transition.

I'm having a lovely time. I'm overcome with gratefulness at times, feeling so privileged to be here, doing what I'm doing. WoW!

Love and hugs!
Becca
