Training wheels

So I met my permanent team for the next 10 months!! We met early Tuesday morning. There are 10 other wonderful people and we comprise team #2 of the Eagle Unit, only the best of the four units here!!! I think this whole eagle thing will be more of a metaphor for me than I think. There are five guys, including my team leader, and 6 girls. We range in age from 18 to 24, and our leader is 27. We have some diverse ethnicities as well as some distant states that people hail from. I know I will enjoy getting to know each of them individually.
Bummer! On Monday I woke with a fever and headache, and the aches and pains and chills grew stronger as I sat thru trainings and ice breakers. [This whole week we have been driving up to the University of Delaware, Newark for our trainings]. Before lunch, my leader told me there was a group going to the medical clinic so I went back to Perryville to see the doctor...I have a sinus infection. Yuck. So I'm on meds now.

On Tuesday we walked around Wilmington, an urban city in Delaware, doing some 'community mapping' with our team. We saw the sites, took notes of the needs and benefits of the city and talked about it amongst each other.
On Wednesday, we had a team project at a park outside of Baltimore, called Gwyn's Falls Park. We cleaned up a main trail and removed invasive plant life, i.e. multi-colored rose barbs. After our project, we went to the YMCA as a team and worked out for an hour. I just piddled around on some machines, I'm still not feeling 100%.
Today, we had to get up for physical training time at 5:15. WOWSER. So that was a doosie, but it was a good way to start the day. Then we headed up to U of D for CPR and first aide training for the rest of the day. I passed!

So this weekend is up in the air, I want to go do something or get some of my individual service hours out of the way but nothing is set in stone yet. I may go see a friend living in D.C.

More pics to come....

Love,
Bec
