So my team and I are working at a camp this week for wounded warriors and their families in Jackson's Gap, Alabama. Let me just say it's wonderful and heart warming, saddening and sickening. A lot of their injuries are 'invisible'...more psychological than physical but there are a few amputees and other physically disabled vets. It's so nice to see two wives float in the camp pool and discuss things that would normally never bring them together. Or to see the young vets chat on the porch over a cup of coffee and nicotine sticks. It warms my heart. To see camaraderie. To see union and connectedness through brokenness. Their injuries bring them together.
I will write more later as this week is FULL and going fast. This is a brand new camp of its kind...and I(we) feel honored to be part of this pioneering team.
We will depart on Friday enroute to PerryPoint, Maryland.
Hugs and kisses!
Becca
